Department and salaryDepartment - Insight, Policy and Public AffairsSalary - £41,574.01 - £44,535.11 (Grade 7)Working Hours - 37 hours (Consideration will be given to job sharing / reduced hours in line with our flexible working policy.Location - Cardiff How you’ll contributeThis is an exciting and pivotal role in delivering the Sport Wales strategic commitment to be an insight-led organisation ensuring our insight is used at a national and community level. Increasing the impact of insight, making research more actionable and influential this is a key role in driving positive change in sport. The post holder will support the interpretation and dissemination of insight and research to inform policy development, support investment decisions, promote the case for sport and Sport Wales across a range of Government and other social policy agendas, and ultimately contributes to the delivery of bigger and better outcomes for Welsh sport. The role is a cross-organisational position which will both seek to inform other directorates and partners of the evidence and research collated by Sport Wales, as well as build relationships which understand the areas of focus and insight those partners want Sport Wales to examine. This role will have a critical position within the organisation for using evidence to tell the story of the impact of sport, and Sport Wales. Working with strategic leads and relationship managers, the role will help directly gather and oversee the commissioning of others to understand insights about the work of Sport Wales and its partner network. Who you’ll work withThe role will work closely with the policy, public affairs and communications functions to ensure that Sport Wales is advocating the most robust and relevant evidence in a way which is easily understood and compelling. In the role you will have a leadership responsibility for supporting other staff members across the organisation, as well as partners, to best understand data and insight, as well as working with partner facing teams to ensure the right insight is gathered and showcased from partners. What you’ll need At least 3 years of demonstrable research experience. Strong analytical skills in interpreting and presenting quantitative and qualitative data in ways that maximise their value in shaping policy and influencing practice. Statistical modelling and analysis skills. Strong IT skills, including a working knowledge and application of SPSS. Knowledge of social science and evaluation, covering different research designs, methods and data collection. Skills and abilities which include: Challenging consensus in a constructive and honest way. Translating complex and detailed research, evidence and policy into easily understood positions Build relationships with a range of different stakeholders.
