About the Role
Amazon is seeking a collaborative electrical maintenance professional for our Amazon Web Services team. The Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) is the on‑site maintenance technician and operator for an AWS data centre, responsible for operating and maintaining all electrical, mechanical, emergency generator, and fire/life safety equipment.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment.
* Troubleshoot facility and rack‑level events within internal SLAs.
* Perform limited maintenance tasks: filter changes, HVAC preventive maintenance, rack power installs, rack PDU, and rack ATS replacements.
* Support Data Centre Operations technicians.
* Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
* Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.
* Work a 12‑hour shift on rotating 3‑ or 4‑day work weeks (including nights). This position will involve a night shift.
* Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment during routine rounds/log taking.
* Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows and spare part inventory.
* Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance.
* Respond to off‑hour emergency calls per on‑call rotation for any region site.
* Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies.
Qualifications
* Technical training (military or trade school) or relevant experience.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word) and web‑based operational tools.
* Familiarity with BMS and EPMS control systems and data collection/trending.
* Proficient with maintenance management software.
* Ability to work in cramped and/or elevated locations with or without reasonable accommodation.
* Valid driver’s license and willingness to use company vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications
* 4+ years of Data Centre Engineering Experience and a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout, including low‑voltage (copper/cable/fibre) cabling.
* Experience with BMS and EPMS control systems, data collection/trending, and maintenance management software.
* Travel between sites/locations during the workday may occur.
