About the Role We are recruiting a Supervising Solicitor to lead and support a team of prison law practitioners. You’ll manage your own caseload while playing a key role in supervision, compliance, and team development. This is an opportunity to make a real difference — both to clients and your colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
18. Supervise and support prison law fee earners and consultants
19. Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency (LAA) contract requirements
20. Conduct file reviews and monitor performance
21. Handle complex cases including parole, adjudications, recall, and categorisation
22. Provide training, mentoring, and day-to-day guidance
23. Maintain excellent standards of client care and service delivery
24. Contribute to audits, LAA reporting, and quality assurance
25. Oversee or assist with billing (including CRM/exceptional cases)
About You
26. Qualified solicitor with 3+ years’ PQE in prison law
27. Supervisor status under the LAA’s Prison Law contract (or eligible)
28. Confident with legal aid funding and compliance processes
29. Proven ability to supervise or lead a team
30. Committed to access to justice, professional standards, and client care
31. Able to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment
