For our Dutch-British team, we are looking for you – the right leader to further develop our organization and our employees. We are responsible for supplying our power plants and other assets in Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom with direct materials. Your team – 7 employees (4 UK / 3 NL) – is one of three procurement teams within “Procurement Generation-specific materials” of RWE Generation SE / RWE Power AG. Your procurement portfolio covers approximately 60 different material groups: from valves to turbine spare parts to chemicals and lime.
About the role
1. Department management: Development and implementation of a long-term purchasing strategy within your area of responsibility, as well as its operational control in line with corporate objectives. Maximization of process efficiency within the department.
2. Leadership and employee development: Professional and disciplinary leadership of the department, including management of workload, task allocation and prioritization.
3. Motivation of employees, including promotion of their professional development.
4. Supplier management: Steering and maintaining supplier relationships as well as identifying potential new suppliers in order to expand and optimize the supplier base.
Cost optimization and efficiency improvement: Identification and implementation of optimization measures to increase order efficiency and reduce procurement costs, taking process costs into account.
5. Risk management: Monitoring and analyzing market developments with the goal of leveraging supply chain opportunities and avoiding risks. Focus: strategic material groups.
6. Collaboration with other departments: Close cooperation with internal departments (e. g. materials management and engineering) to align customer requirements and needs.
7. Ensuring continuous best practice transfer between different procurement departments as well as to external interfaces. Cooperation with HR on personnel matters.
8. Internationality: Development and implementation of a holistic, international sourcing strategy in close coordination with the responsible employees and procurement departments.
Job requirements and experience
9. Degree or comparable qualification in procurement, business administration, or a similar field.
Several years of professional experience in purchasing management (specialized in materials) as well as several years of leadership experience.
10. Excellent user knowledge of MS Office and SAP S/4HANA + SAP Ariba.
11. In-depth knowledge of supplier negotiations and contract law – national and international.
12. Proven track record in implementing cost-saving initiatives and optimizing supply chains.
13. High willingness to travel. Your team is based in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom; travel to German locations is also required.
14. Business fluent English.
15. German language skills would be an asset
