Senior Physiotherapist

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced physiotherapist, part time (30 hours) to join the Mental Health Service for Older People community team in Easington Community Team.
The successful candidate will be an autonomous qualified physiotherapist providing assessment, treatment planning and provision for older people with organic and functional mental health problems who have complex physical and psychological needs. Often these patients present with additional needs around frailty syndrome, so the candidate will be expected to assess using appropriate outcome measures and deliver physiotherapy‑specific interventions to address frailty syndrome.
Required competencies include being an HCPC‑registered physiotherapist with experience supporting people with mental health needs, learning disability or autism, and working within a Multidisciplinary Team. Significant post‑qualifying experience in physiotherapy, particularly with older people with complex needs, is essential.
You must have the Right to Work in the UK. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa, so sponsorship will not be offered.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will work as part of a Trust‑wide group of Physiotherapy staff in TEWV, receiving guidance from Clinical Leads, Clinical Specialists, and the Professional Head of Physiotherapy.

Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be an autonomous qualified physiotherapist providing assessment, treatment planning and provision for older people with organic and functional mental health problems and complex needs. The role involves working closely with other professions in the CMHT MDT, contributing to daily teams huddles, assessing using outcome measures, and delivering interventions to address frailty syndrome.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Appropriate professional qualification in physiotherapy
* Current registration with the relevant regulatory body (HCPC)
* International English Language Testing System (IELTS) level 7 (SLT =8) for international recruits
* Postgraduate training in relevant specialist area
Experience
* Minimum 12 months post‑qualifying experience in physiotherapy delivery
* Experience supporting people with mental health issues, learning disability or autism
* Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
Knowledge
* Understanding of the needs of service users with mental health conditions or learning disabilities
* Clinical risk assessment and application in practice
* Knowledge of evidence‑based practice in designated specialist area
* Postgraduate training in specialist area if applicable (e.g., dysphagia, autism diagnostics)
* Experience managing complex physiotherapy cases
* Awareness of professional standards and their application to practice
