Role Purpose
As a Procurement Manager within Rolls‑Royce SMR, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering commodity strategies in a New Product Introduction environment. Unlike traditional procurement roles, this position requires building the supply base from the ground up—there is no established supply chain. You will develop the base through robust, insight‑driven strategies, leading the creation of commodity strategies by conducting in‑depth market research, supplier positioning analysis, cost, capacity modelling, and value stream mapping. These strategies will define how we source and engage with suppliers and influence design and commercial decision‑making, ensuring procurement is embedded early in the product lifecycle for cost‑effective, scalable, and resilient supply solutions aligned with our long‑term programme goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver supply chain solutions within a highly regulated environment.
* Lead front‑line procurement or operations under challenging objectives and tight timescales.
* Apply a commercially astute approach, balancing cost, risk, and value across complex procurement activities.
* Drive cross‑functional collaboration in strategic sourcing, commercial negotiations, project delivery, regulatory compliance, logistics, and end‑to‑end procurement solutions.
* Apply the framework to deliver specific supply chain strategy, deploying strategic procurement frameworks for high‑value outcomes.
* Embed best practices and drive innovation across the supply base, translating strategic intent into actionable plans to optimise cost, quality, and delivery performance.
* Represent and influence procurement and compliance considerations within cross‑functional decision‑making, advocating for procurement priorities (cost, risk, value, regulatory compliance) aligned with broader programme objectives.
* Lead and develop a high‑performing procurement team, setting high standards, making informed decisions, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
