An exciting opportunity has arisen with this thriving family run business in Newcastle Upon Tyne. They are seeking a hardworking, dynamic and driven leader to join them to take up the role of warehouse manager.
As part of our growth strategy, we are seeking an experienced and dedicated Warehouse Manager to oversee the warehouse operations in our young & expanding business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the warehouse, ensuring efficient processes and adherence to safety regulations, with a hands-on approach whilst leading from example. This role requires strong leadership skills of our small team and a deep understanding of warehouse management systems, supply chain logistics, and continuous improvement methodologies and be willing to role their sleeves up and work alongside the team.
Responsibilities
Manage daily warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, and inventory management.
Supervise and lead warehouse staff, providing training and support to enhance performance.
Implement and maintain effective business processes to optimise warehouse efficiency.
Oversee the use of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) for accurate tracking of inventory and shipments.
Collaborate with third-party logistics (3PL) providers to ensure seamless supply chain operations.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to warehouse activities, aiming for continuous improvement in productivity and accuracy.
Conduct regular audits of inventory levels and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Manage the site health and safety & ensure compliance.
Prepare reports on warehouse performance, including profit and loss analysis.
Skills
Proficient in operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
Strong understanding of business processes related to warehousing and logistics.
Experience with shipping and receiving procedures in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques such as Lean or Six Sigma.
Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is essential
Ability to manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PL).
Excellent organisational skills with a keen attention to detail.
IOSH or NEBOSH qualification would be advantageous.
Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate a team towards common goals.
