What is the role?
Lead a high-performing Telecoms Tier 3 Network Engineering team, to help support and secure the UK wide data network which provides mission critical services to telecoms customers whilst collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and mentor network engineers, setting goals and ensuring consistent output of quality conducting all relevant line management responsibilities.
* Manage and review engineering team processes in coordination with senior management requirements ensuring outputs are onboarding successfully.
* Act as Neos’ primary contact for vendor support.
* Oversee network changes and support the tier 3 team with network changes.
* Maintain and improve engineering standards and documentation.
* Help your team provide Tier-3 technical support to the Neos NOC and customers supporting fault investigations.
* Use scripting tools to analyse and produce reporting.
* Build strong relationships with stakeholders and design partners.
* Report monthly on team performance and project progress.
Vetting/Clearance Level
In order to support Critical National Infrastructure, you will need to be vetted as part of your induction process.
Skills
* Hands‑on experience on Cisco ASA, Firepower and Checkpoint configuration.
* Experience with Cisco IOS, IOS‑XE, and Nexus hardware (routers/switches).
* Solid understanding of Layer 2 (Ethernet, VLANs, Spanning Tree).
* Proven skills in Layer 3 (OSPF, BGP, subnetting, ACLs, VRFs).
* Exposure to Juniper platforms: QFX10k, QFX5k with VXLAN.
* SD‑WAN knowledge, such as Aruba troubleshooting.
Qualifications
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel & Visio.
* Experienced in team management.
* Hold a professional level network accreditation such as cisco, juniper or similar industry recognised certification.
You will be flexible, committed and a self‑motivated leader, with excellent organisational skills, including prioritising workloads.
You will be expected to work on your own initiative but also work well as part of a small team.
An interest in (or willingness to learn) Python/scripting for the drive towards automation.
