ABOUT THE ROLE
A BRIEF SUMMARY
The Media Systems Engineer is responsible for the support, maintenance, and optimisation of broadcast and media production systems within Gravity Media. This role ensures the stability, performance, and evolution of critical media workflows, supporting production teams and maintaining high service standards across all media operations.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Systems Support & Maintenance
* Support a range of specialist systems including Windows, macOS, and Linux environments, with some exposure to SQL databases
* Install, rack, and configure EVS servers and associated hardware
* Maintain and support EVS environments including:
o oIPDirector (IPD)
o oXSquare (XSQ)
o oXT / XTA servers
o oXFile
* Administer and maintain IPD systems, including databases, user management, permissions, and services
* Support Avid environments including Interplay, Nexis, and Media Composer clients
* Build, maintain, and optimise workflows using Telestream Vantage
Workflow & Operations
* Monitor and optimise performance of:
o Media servers and storage systems
o File processing and delivery pipelines
* Develop, review, and improve workflows to enhance broadcast engineering operations
* Configure and manage:
o Transcoding and delivery targets
* Ensure all systems operate within a stable, version‑controlled environment
* Provide first‑line technical support, resolving faults in a timely manner
* Troubleshoot issues effectively with a pragmatic, solution‑focused approach
* Escalate complex issues to stakeholders and liaise with vendor support when required
* Guide editors, operators, and production staff through technical workflows and issues
Maintenance & Reliability
* Plan and execute system maintenance with consideration of operational risk and client impact
* Perform routine system checks and preventative maintenance
* Apply change control processes and risk assessments to all system updates
* Produce and maintain accurate technical documentation
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems, workflows, and operational practices
* Proactively support media operations and collaborate with other technical teams
Team Contribution
* Support and mentor junior engineers and technical staff
* Share knowledge and promote best practices across the team

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE
* Strong experience supporting broadcast or media systems environments
* Knowledge of EVS systems (IPD, XSquare, XT/XTA, XFile)
* Experience with Avid workflows (Interplay, Nexis, Media Composer)
* Understanding of file‑based workflows and media processing pipelines
* Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
* Familiarity with Windows, macOS, and Linux systems
* Experience with Telestream Vantage workflow design
* Basic knowledge of SQL databases
* Experience with Aspera or accelerated file‑transfer systems
* Understanding of change control and version management processes
