Primary SEN Teacher: Make a Profound Difference in Young Lives (Ages 5-11)

About the Opportunity

We are representing a specialist Primary SEN school (ages 5-11) dedicated to providing an outstanding culture of community and promoting the well-being and academic success of pupils, primarily those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and/or communication and interaction needs. The school champions a relational learning approach built on playfulness, acceptance, curiosity, and empathy, viewing challenging behaviour as a form of communication. We are committed to safeguarding and ensuring equality of opportunity for every child.

The Role: Your Purpose

We are looking for an exceptional, dedicated, and resilient Qualified Teacher to lead the teaching, learning, and achievement of a class of primary-aged SEN pupils. This is a vital role for an individual who is passionate about creating a positive, safe, and stimulating environment where every child can achieve their individual potential, meet their EHCP and IEP needs, and overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities Include:

* Delivering high-quality, differentiated teaching across the curriculum, adapting the National Curriculum for primary pupils working significantly below age-related expectations.

* Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all children.

* Leading and coordinating Annual Review meetings and managing statutory documentation (EHCPs, IEPs).

* Working proactively and collaboratively with learners, parents/carers, staff, and external agencies.

* Providing 1:1 or small-group tuition, including undertaking tuition and trips/visits offsite with appropriate risk assessments.

* Modeling and promoting high standards of communication, interpersonal skills, and peer relationships.

What You Will Bring

Essential Experience & Knowledge:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree.

* Proven, recent experience of teaching primary age pupils with additional needs either in a mainstream or special school setting.

* An excellent understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and its practical application, including experience with EHCPs and Annual Reviews.

* Expertise in working with children who communicate through challenging behaviour and commitment to a relational, non-punitive approach.

* Ability to plan and teach outstanding lessons and adapt to different learning styles.

* A thorough understanding of child development and learning processes within SEND.

Desirable (But Not Essential):

* SEND-related qualifications (e.g., SENCO qualification).

* Experience in a leadership or TLR role.

* Experience with TA appraisal and leading a curriculum area.

Why Join This Community?

You will be joining a supportive, collaborative school team committed to continuously improving the quality of teaching and learning. This is an opportunity to truly make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of a specialist primary school.

If you are ready to set high expectations and maximise the achievement of pupils with SEMH needs, we encourage you to apply!
