Overview
Procurement Manager role at Balfour Beatty plc, supporting the Lower Thames Crossing project within the Balfour Beatty Highways business.
The project includes 43 bridges (including viaducts), 17km of complex highways construction, complex utility diversions, and a scheme-wide approach to carbon reduction. The Procurement Manager will work with the LTC Project team to deliver the LTC Procurement Strategy and procurement activity aligned with the Main Contract requirements, the business’s objectives, strategy and processes.
What you'll be doing
* Ensure project requirements are met, and best value contracts are negotiated to meet and exceed targets.
* Produce project-specific Procurement Strategies for agreement with internal and external stakeholders.
* Develop and implement individual package procurement plans to maintain security of supply and optimise added value.
* Lead ITT development with input from operations, planning, design, and quality teams.
* Lead multi-disciplinary sourcing through ITT processes and select the best supplier using the Balfour Beatty ITT procurement software (Jaggaer).
* Facilitate negotiation of package-specific terms and conditions with the Commercial team and relevant parts of the business.
* Negotiate agreements that support on-time delivery and meet Safety & Sustainability requirements.
* Develop relationships with business stakeholders and strategic supply partners to improve business performance.
* Identify areas for improvement to continually drive performance and cost-down opportunities.
* Conduct business review meetings with key stakeholders to assess risk and future strategies.
* Provide periodic reporting on purchasing controls and processes.
* Educate managers and associates about procurement process control.
Who we're looking for
The Following Experience/qualifications Are Essential
* Relevant business degree or equivalent experience (e.g., MCIPS) and experience within a Procurement Management role (desired).
* Ability to manage people effectively, delivering objectives while considering the skills and needs of employees.
* Pragmatic yet disciplined approach to process compliance.
* Highly results-oriented with a proven track record of exceeding targets.
* Stakeholder management skills.
* Problem-solving skills and initiative to identify improvements and propose solutions.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Knowledge of procurement ERP and e-tendering systems (e.g., Oracle, Jaggaer or similar).
* Experience of Subcontract Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
* Proven track record in negotiation.
