Health and Home Support Personal Assistant
Job description
About the role
We are looking for a skilled and empathetic Personal Assistant to support both the health and household management needs of L, a neurodivergent adult living with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and other health conditions.
You will work collaboratively with a small support team to ensure continuity, clarity, and consistency across all aspects of L's life.
By providing help at the right time, L is able to lead an independent lifestyle in her own home and in her community.
This is a varied and active role for someone who enjoys problem-solving, values autonomy and dignity in care, and is highly organised. You should feel confident to ask what L needs, always listen to the requests, clarify, and interpret them correctly.
Key responsibilities
* Establish a stable, empathetic, and respectful working relationship with L
* Provide day-to-day support related to health, home, and admin tasks
* Track and respond to L's fluctuating cognitive and physical health needs
* Support medication tracking, health appointments, referrals, and outcomes
* Keep household admin up to date – utilities, online accounts, contact lists
* Maintain clear records on a shared spreadsheet of all actions and support provided
* Draft communications and represent L in writing or conversation in a professional manner as required
* Prepare for and take notes in meetings with health professionals or other service providers
* Liaise with L's Job Aide, other support workers, and medical professionals to share relevant updates
* Anticipate and prioritise tasks during times of increased need (e.g. during a CFS flare)
* Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times
* Uphold confidentiality, respecting L's privacy
* Provide physical assistance and drive L to appointments when needed
About you
* Experience supporting neurodivergent adults and/or chronic health conditions
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Highly organised and able to manage competing priorities independently
* Emotionally intelligent and attuned to the need for privacy and discretion
* Comfortable with problem-solving and proactive task management
* Understand how to support someone in a way that is led by their needs, preferences, and goals
* Confident using Excel
* Physically capable of assisting with mobility (lifting, handling, pushing and bending – you do not need to be strong, but need to be able to operate without reciprocal support from L)
* Full UK driving licence and access to a car
Nice to have:
* British Sign Language
* Competence with Mac-based systems
* Trauma Informed
This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
We warmly welcome applicants with lived experience of disability or neurodivergence and are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive working environment.
