Team Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead a motivated multidisciplinary team in delivering evidence-based treatment for working‑age adults with severe affective and psychotic disorders. The team supports service users through expertise across various disciplines.
As Team Manager you will oversee a supportive environment that values staff wellbeing, supervision and professional development. You will actively contribute to service development and manage staff resources, including budget responsibility.
You will support clinicians in managing diverse caseloads, share and role‑model your clinical skills, and ensure that recovery principles remain embedded in the work of the team.
Key responsibilities include:
* Lead the staff team on a daily basis in delivering a high‑quality, evidence‑based community mental health service.
* Ensure staff operate within relevant legal frameworks and manage supervision and treatment interventions.
* Shape the service using clinical skills, support others’ development and take on some clinical work.
* Collaborate with Advanced Practitioners and manage complaints and serious incidents reviews.
* Maintain high‑standard reports for specialist placements, Mental Health Act tribunals, and manager hearings.
* Provide specialist consultation and advice to nursing, multidisciplinary teams, clients and families.
* Monitor and evaluate workloads, deliver vision and inspire staff through effective clinical leadership.
* Stay current with Government legislation including the Mental Health Act, CPA, NHS Plan, etc.
* Work with psychology lead to ensure therapeutic activities and interventions are available daily.
* Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure seamless care.
The ideal candidate will have a strong team‑work ethic, accountability, ability to work under pressure and a desire for innovation. Agile working is supported; the role requires a high proportion of presence in the office.
Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
* NMC or HCPC Registered
* Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Clinical Psychologist or Social Worker qualification
* Qualification in therapy
Experience
* Recruiting, managing and training staff
* Contributing to and developing policies
* Further training in team management
* Leadership qualification
Skills & Abilities
* Effective written and verbal communication skills
* Organisational and time‑management skills
* Work flexibly and manage change
* Lead and develop team initiatives within clinical care environments
* Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act
* Knowledge of managing teams to achieve service objectives and outcomes
* Understanding of key issues in clinical psychiatric practice
* Mental Health Act Training
