SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Darwen
Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday
Pay: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour
Contract: Temporary with a view to go permanent for the successful applicant
We are currently recruiting for a committed and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Secondary Alternative Provision in Darwen.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The role requires strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with young people who may display challenging behaviour.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting students with SEMH needs in both 1:1 and small group settings
* Assisting the class teacher with behaviour management and classroom routines
* Promoting emotional regulation and encouraging engagement in learning
* Working collaboratively with staff and external professionals to meet individual needs
Requirements:
* Experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviour in a school or care setting
* Strong, confident approach to behaviour management
* Calm, patient, and resilient under pressure
* A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable young people
