Healthcare Assistant - Theatres
Location: The Chiltern Hospital, Great Missenden – part of Circle Health Group, a leading provider of independent healthcare.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, full‑time, with flexible shift patterns.
Salary: £24,434 per year plus benefits and rewards.
Overview – We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant with theatre experience to join our team. The role will support patients throughout the surgical journey, from pre‑operative preparation to post‑operative care.
Duties include:
* Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care and mobility.
* Help patients with eating, drinking and nutritional support, and document intake.
* Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives.
* Record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation and blood glucose levels after training.
* Support basic clinical procedures: wound care set‑up, catheter care assistance, pressure area prevention and use of mobility aids.
* Maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds and equipment.
* Collaborate with nurses, doctors, therapists and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
* Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).
* Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
* Ability to follow instructions and raise concerns appropriately.
* Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
* Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
* Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control and confidentiality procedures.
