Description About the Role As a Social Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering strength‑based, person‑centred practice that empowers the people we support to live fulfilled, independent, and self‑directed lives. In this role, you will: Work directly with young people (typically aged 16–25) and their families to undertake holistic, outcome‑focused assessments. Develop strengths‑based support plans that promote wellbeing, independence, and personalised life opportunities. Build effective relationships with partner agencies including education, health, care providers, and community organisations. Provide clear professional analysis and recommendations in line with the Care Act 2014 and related legislation. Manage a varied caseload, ensuring timely responses and high‑quality social work practice. Support young people to access opportunities in employment, education, independent living, and community participation. Promote safeguarding, identify risks, and contribute to the safety and protection of vulnerable young adults. Contribute to a learning culture within the service and uphold the values of Cornwall Council. About You We’re looking for someone who is: A qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England. Skilled in delivering person‑centred, strengths‑based interventions. Passionate about supporting young people with learning disabilities, autism, or other complex needs. Confident working within a multi‑agency environment. Able to communicate effectively with young people, families, and professionals. Skilled in analysis, decision‑making, and recording to a high professional standard. Committed to promoting independence, choice, inclusion, and empowerment. Organised, reflective, and proactive in managing caseload demands. Please note: If you have qualified as a Social Worker within the last 2 years, but not completed your Assessed and Supported Year of Employment (ASYE) we would welcome your application as a Newly Qualified Social Worker (NQSW) in order to access Cornwall’s ASYE programme which runs twice yearly. You would need to apply for our NQSW adverts which are advertised separately. We are also able to consider experienced social workers who have taken a career break of between two and ten years, where their SWE registration has expired.
