PE Global is currently recruiting for a Junior Design Engineer (Electrical/Electronic) for a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment based in Peterborough.
This is an initial 12 months contract position working on site 5 days a week.
Pay rate is £22.51ph PAYE or £33.85ph Umbrella.
Duties of the role/Responsibilities
* Create and maintain electrical designs using AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Vault.
* Design electrical system layouts, schematics, and cable block diagrams.
* Support the development of automotive wiring harnesses for engine test facilities.
* Work from established design specifications with guidance from senior engineers.
* Reference technical documentation to extract relevant electrical information.
* Develop installation instructions and user documentation.
* Participate in design review meetings and provide progress updates.
* Prepare test documentation to facilitate harness quality checks.
* Gain practical experience with loom and harness builds, including basic fault-finding tasks.
Education/Experience
* 1-3 years of experience in electrical/electronic design
* Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D, AutoCAD Electrical, and/or Autodesk Vault
* Familiarity with PLM software, component creation, icon/footprint design, and library management
* Knowledge of CE / UKCA compliance and harmonised standards
* Willingness to learn about standards such as EN 60204, EN 12100, and BS 7671
* Interest in automotive or industrial electrical systems
* Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with others
* Capability to manage multiple projects at various stages
