Overview: Our client, a well-established independent car garage based in Coventry, is looking to hire a highly organised and experienced Accounts & Office Administrator to support the financial and administrative operations of their business. This is a hands-on and varied role, ideal for someone with strong bookkeeping and payroll experience who enjoys working independently within a small, close-knit team. You'll work closely with the business owner and an external accountant, taking ownership of the day-to-day finance tasks and general office admin. Full-time is preferred (40 hours/week), but part-time applicants are also welcome (minimum 15 hours/week across 3 days). Key Responsibilities: Bookkeeping & Finance (Xero or Sage): Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software Sales Ledger: Raise customer invoices Send account statements Reconcile incoming payments Purchase Ledger: Log and manage supplier invoices Reconcile supplier statements Prepare and process outgoing payments Process payroll for 8 employees Prepare and submit VAT returns and PAYE payments Office Administration: Handle general admin tasks using Excel, Word, and Outlook Support the owner with ad hoc administrative duties as required Candidate Requirements: Essential: Strong bookkeeping experience Proficiency in Xero or Sage accounting software Confident using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Understanding of payroll, VAT, and PAYE processes Excellent attention to detail and time management Able to work independently and take initiative Desirable: AAT qualification (or equivalent experience) Previous experience in a garage, trades, or small business environment Working Hours & Pay: Full-time: 40 hours per week Part-time: Minimum 15 hours per week (spread over at least 3 days) Pay Rate: £13.00 per hour (negotiable depending on experience)
