Overview
East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust is offering a Nursing Associate vacancy. This post is for an NMC Registered Nursing Associate, a new role introduced in England from 2019. It is a generic role within nursing (not defined by a specific field) and is designed to bridge the gap between health and care assistants and registered nurses. Nursing associates are accountable for their practice and are expected to provide nursing care that is person‑centred, safe and compassionate at all times, adhering to Trust values and policies. They apply the six NMC proficiencies in day‑to‑day activities.
Role context
Nursing Associates are an integral part of the stroke multidisciplinary team and are expected to provide the highest standard of holistic nursing care to stroke patients and to support the team in attaining key performance indicators of stroke care quality standards. In East Kent Stroke service, we are undertaking significant improvement works, supported by a Kent and Medway Stroke Service reconfiguration, with commissioned plans to build a new HASU/ASU site by 2026 and a Mechanical Thrombectomy centre by 2024.
Location and team
We are delighted to offer Nursing Associate roles within our nursing team. You will be based at Harbledown Ward HASU. Harbledown is a 24‑bed inpatient stroke unit with a strong ethos of rehabilitation. If you are already a qualified NA, this role will provide specialist experience and skills in the stroke specialty. If you are ready to take on the challenge of training and progressing to qualify as an NA, we are happy to support you.
