Job Title: Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (FMCG)

Shifts: Rotating shifts (days/nights), 40 hours/week + on-call cover
Recruitment Pro is currently recruiting on behalf of a leading business within the FMCG sector for an experienced and proactive Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that plays a key part in maintaining production efficiency and ensuring equipment operates at optimal levels.
About the Role:
This is a vital engineering position within a highly demanding environment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in reducing downtime, maintaining high safety standards, and supporting continuous improvement across the site’s 24-hour operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and routine inspections
Respond swiftly and effectively to breakdowns and faults
Carry out equipment adjustments and changeovers
Support process improvement through technical input
Maintain accurate maintenance records and spare part inventories
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards
Collaborate with other departments to support production needs
Participate in out-of-hours on-call cover rotation (approx. 50%)
What We're Looking For:
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (ONC/BTEC)
Strong working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in FMCG environments
Skilled in troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment (e.g., motors, conveyors, pumps, packaging machinery)
Familiarity with HACCP principles
Proactive, solution-focused mindset with a can-do attitude
Excellent communication and decision-making skills
Flexibility to work varied shift patterns and be part of a call-out rota
Working Hours:
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Shift patterns include:
06:00 – 14:00
14:00 – 22:00
22:00 – 06:00
Paid breaks included (1 x 30 min + 2 x 15 min
Shifts set monthly in advance in coordination with the Maintenance Manager
Pay and Benefits:
£18.00 per hour base pay
Overtime rates:
Weekdays: x1.33
Saturday: x1.5
Sunday: x2
Call-out premiums available after 40 hours:
Calculated at mileage (home to work) x £0.45 x 1.5
