Walker Cole International is seeking a Plant Breeding Manager to lead its specialist breeding program in the pharmaceutical sector. This role offers a unique opportunity to innovate at the intersection of plant science and pharmaceutical development, focusing on medicinal plant varieties.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and implement plant breeding strategies targeting traits like alkaloid content, yield, and disease resistance.
* Develop and maintain plant clones; oversee clone strategy, viability, and assessment.
* Conduct field and greenhouse trials to evaluate breeding lines.
* Utilize classical and molecular breeding techniques, including marker-assisted selection and tissue culture.
* Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical quality standards and regulatory documentation.
* Collaborate with R&D and regulatory teams.
* Present results and updates to stakeholders and external bodies.
About You:
* MSc or PhD in Plant Breeding, Genetics, Agronomy, or related field.
* 5+ years of plant breeding experience, with at least 2 in leadership.
* Knowledge of medicinal plants and phytochemistry.
* Familiarity with GMP, GACP, and pharmaceutical regulations.
* Skills in data analysis, project management, and teamwork.
* Experience with medicinal crops.
* Background in pharma or biotech industry.
* Knowledge of EMA, FDA, or WHO frameworks for botanical ingredients.
