CSSD Cabrini Malvern
At Cabrini Hospital our Central Sterilising Supply Department (CSSD) works with cutting edge sterilisation technology in a fast-paced hospital environment. Our Central Sterilising Supply Department located at Cabrini Malvern services 19 Operating Theatres, three endoscopy rooms and three Cardiac Catheter Labs, with expansion of 4 new theatres and endoscopy (new processing and procedure rooms) due for completion in early 2026.
Our department has large assembly and storage areas, providing an optimum working environment, where instruments are processed to the highest standard for each procedure.
The Instrument Technicians work across a 24/7 rotating roster, reprocessing reusable medical devices for surgical procedures and typically rotate through all phases of the reprocessing cycle.
What the role involves:
1. Support and consultation with the NUM/TSE
2. Undertake work of a complex nature, rotating through all areas of the department with a high degree of autonomy and accountability
3. Shift supervision
4. Participate in quality activities that reflect AS5369
5. Policy/procedure reviews (as directed by the NUM/TSE)
6. Promoting the implementation of new ideas, and striving for best practice and continuous improvement
7. Role model and resource for the team, contributing to staff development, and planning and conducting in-service education programs
What we’re looking for:
8. Along with recent proven experience as an Instrument Technician (Technical Support B or C/grade 3) and a commitment to providing a high level of service, you will have the following:
9. MUST have Certificate IV in Sterilising Services or working towards
10. MUST have a minimum of 36 months experience post certification
11. Competent in managing people systems/processes
12. Capable of working with a high level of autonomy, prioritising own work within established policies, guidelines and procedures
13. Responsible for work performed with a substantial level of accountability and responsibility
14. Experience of shift supervision and quality assurance activities- Preferred
15. Administrative skills and problem-solving abilities
16. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
