Stoke-on-Trent City Council is seeking an enthusiastic Policy Officer to support the development and coordination of corporate strategies and planning, particularly in relation to devolution and local government reorganisation. This is a unique opportunity to influence high-impact initiatives that align with our city’s vision and values, working closely with senior leaders, elected members, and regional partners. Key Responsibilities • Support the Strategy & Policy Manager in shaping strategic policy and planning. • Interpret government guidance and evaluate implications for the Council. •Develop and communicate new policies internally and externally. • Monitor the external policy environment and anticipate changes. • Promote equality, inclusion, and a culture of continuous improvement. What We’re Looking For, We’re looking for someone who is: • A strategic thinker with a strong understanding of local government legislation and policy. • Experienced in public sector policy development and planning. • Skilled in research, data analysis, and translating complex information into actionable insights. • Politically astute, collaborative, and an excellent communicator. Essential Qualifications &Experience • A degree or equivalent qualification. • Proven experience in relevant local government functions. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. • Experience of working in partnership across organisational boundaries.
