The role
Job Title: Financial Controller Salary: £68,000 Band H Level 3 (Inc Market supplement and OLW) Location: Gilwell Park, London – hybrid working with 2 days in the office Contract Type : Fixed term for 8 Months Working Hours : Full-time (35 hours per week) About The Role: This is an exciting opportunity to lead our Financial Accounting, Payroll and Transactions teams, ensuring strong financial controls, compliance, statutory reporting, treasury management, and high-quality financial services across the organisation. As the Financial Controller, you will (Key Responsibilities): Lead our financial accounting, payroll and transactions teams. Oversee day-to-day finance operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and banking. Ensure accurate financial reporting and timely month-end processes. Manage the preparation of annual accounts and support the external audit process. Ensure compliance with financial regulations, VAT and corporation tax requirements. Maintain strong financial controls and identify opportunities to improve processes and systems. Monitor cash flow, oversee treasury activities and support investment reporting. Partner with budget holders and senior leaders, providing financial guidance and support. Develop and motivate a high-performing finance team. Who we’re looking for as our Financial Controller: A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). Strong experience in financial accounting, audit or financial control. Experience leading and developing teams. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement. Experience within the charity, not-for-profit or public sector is welcome but not essential.
