Paint & Blast Shop Team Leader

Role Overview
The Paint & Blast Shop Team Leader is responsible for leading the day-to-day performance of the department, ensuring safe, efficient operations and high-quality output. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership, continuous improvement, and effective communication.
Working closely with the Production Supervisor, you will help drive positive change, improve standards, and support smooth production flow.
Hours, Pay & Benefits

Hours: 39.5 hours per week (Mon/Thu 06:30am – 15:45pm, Fri 06:30am –12:30pm)

Pay: £16.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities
*
Support the Production Supervisor by resolving issues and promoting effective team collaboration.
*
Update the Planning Manager on progress and flag potential delays when required.
*
Lead daily operations to maintain workflow, minimise downtime, and eliminate waste.
*
Set and manage clear timelines for operational goals, allocating tasks appropriately.
*
Lead daily briefings focused on safety, quality, and delivery.
*
Act as the main point of contact for team queries, feedback, and guidance.
*
Lead by example, demonstrating expected behaviours and values.
*
Ensure all work meets required standards for quality, cost, and schedule.
*
Maintain a safe and compliant working area through daily checks.
*
Ensure SSWs, RAMs, certifications, and calibrations remain current.
*
Promote a strong health and safety culture by identifying hazards and encouraging open communication.
*
Work closely with Production Administration to ensure accurate material booking in/out.
*
Maintain and continuously improve 5S standards through audits and coaching.
*
Coordinate effectively with other departments, including planning FLT movements in advance.
*
Ensure all assets are quality-checked before leaving the area, minimising rework.
*
Understand individual team members’ strengths and development needs and communicate professionally at all times.
Essential Experience & Skills
*
Hands-on experience with airless painting systems and techniques.
*
Proficiency in the use and application of 2-pack paint systems and pumps.
*
Proven problem-solving experience within a workshop or production environment.
*
Ability to achieve results while performing and leading within a team.
*
Eligibility to work in the UK.
Desirable Experience & Attributes
*
Experience in hire repair, reactive repair, sand blasting, or site welfare environments.
*
Forklift truck licence and flexibility to take on additional responsibilities.
*
Willingness to work overtime when required
