Job Description

Please note that this is a field based role. Candidates must be based in the East or South of England.

The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) is responsible for recruiting, developing, and leading a team of veterinary business managers to implement company strategy and deliver key business objectives across a geographical sales region.

The RSM is responsible for achieving sales growth targets within the VET-business, reaching all quantitative and qualitative targets with maximum return on investment in a challenging and ever-changing business context. They must meet commercial targets while upholding the Mars five principles and the vision of Royal Canin within their working practice.

The RSM manages, develops, and motivates a performance-driven sales team through excellent leadership, ensuring individual and team goals are achieved. They oversee all processes and ways of working within the teams to ensure efficiency and accurate forecasting of future demands.

As an organization, Mars and Royal Canin invest heavily in the development of every associate. The role holder will be responsible for ongoing development, in-field coaching, engagement, talent identification, and succession planning of the sales team.


Key Responsibilities

1. Direct line management of Veterinary Business Managers (VBMs)
2. Leading a sales team in line with Royal Canin's strategies and vision, embodying Mars principles and values
3. Coaching the field sales team to develop skills and meet targets
4. Ensuring good account management and sales principles are upheld
5. Ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures
6. Completing administrative functions related to expenses, leave, etc.
7. Holding regular reviews with VBMs to monitor KPIs and implement performance improvements
8. Ensuring each VBM has a comprehensive annual Personal Development Plan
9. Maintaining positive team engagement
10. Conducting quarterly and annual appraisals of VBMs in line with PDP and business objectives

Collaborating with the Pet Professional team to execute business strategies, negotiate agreements, analyze market environment and customer needs, control merchandising strategies, define sales targets, and analyze results.

1. Providing requested reports and information promptly
2. Assisting in setting and monitoring KPIs for the VBM team
3. Sales Training and Recruitment

Effectively recruiting and onboarding new VBMs in line with Mars five principles. Working closely with other departments within Royal Canin to ensure business objectives are achieved, including Key Accounts, Pro Team, Retail, and Nutrition 360.

Enhancing recommendation rates of Royal Canin, physical availability/distribution, and scientific image within clinics to serve the target of “reaching more pets”. Creating and developing sales opportunities within existing or new customers.
