________________________________________ Job Title: Onsite Cost Controller – Hinkley Point C Project 1140GF Location: Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station, Somerset, UK Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Department: Finance Reports To: Project Cost Controller ________________________________________ Company Overview: Hinkley Point C is a critical nuclear power project in the UK, being delivered as part of a Joint Venture between VSL and Freyssinet. This project will play a key role in providing low-carbon electricity to millions of homes and supporting the UK's transition to a more sustainable energy system. The project requires a skilled team of professionals to oversee its financial performance, and we are looking for an experienced Onsite Cost Controller to join this high-profile initiative. ________________________________________ Position Overview: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Onsite Cost Controller to join our team at Hinkley Point C. This is a unique opportunity to work on a large-scale nuclear project within a Joint Venture structure, where you will play a key role in managing project costs and ensuring financial transparency. The position will initially involve a handover process from the outgoing Cost Controller, allowing you to familiarize yourself with ongoing activities, current financial systems, and key challenges. This role will include significant tasks related to payment reconciliation and the monitoring of payments, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and processed. You will also work with our partner's accounting system, Harmony, to ensure accurate cost management and reporting across the project. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities: • Cost Monitoring and Control: o Maintain and manage project cost control systems, ensuring accurate tracking of all expenditures. o Provide cost forecasts, variance analysis, and regular updates on the status of project costs. o Ensure cost performance is aligned with the approved budget and report on cost deviations and risks. o Work closely with project teams to verify that costs are properly allocated and approved. • Payment Reconciliation and Follow-up: o Perform regular payment reconciliations, ensuring that invoices and payments are accurately matched and recorded. o Monitor payments to subcontractors and suppliers, following up on any overdue or disputed payments. o Collaborate with project finance teams to resolve payment discrepancies and ensure timely processing. o Ensure compliance with contract terms and financial agreements for all payments made. • Use of Harmony Accounting System: o Utilize the Harmony accounting system, implemented by our Joint Venture partner, to process and manage financial transactions. o Generate cost reports, reconcile accounts, and ensure data integrity within the Harmony system. o Work closely with the partner's finance teams to ensure accurate and up-to-date financial reporting. • Handover from Previous Cost Controller: o Participate in a structured handover process from the outgoing Cost Controller to ensure continuity and effective transition. o Familiarize yourself with ongoing financial tracking systems, payment processes, and current cost performance. o Assume responsibility for cost control, payment management, and financial reporting after the handover. • Budget Management and Financial Reporting: o Assist in preparing and updating the project budget, ensuring that it reflects the scope, schedule, and financial expectations. o Prepare and present detailed cost reports to senior management, highlighting cost trends, forecasts, and variances. o Work with the Project Cost Controller to update cost forecasts based on actual performance and any changes in project scope. • Risk Management: o Identify potential cost-related risks and report them in a timely manner. o Work with the team to implement mitigation strategies for any financial risks that could affect the project. • Stakeholder Collaboration: o Work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather cost-related data and ensure financial alignment across teams. o Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including finance teams from the Joint Venture partners. • Compliance and Audit: o Ensure that cost control processes comply with internal standards, industry regulations, and the requirements of the Joint Venture. o Support audits as needed, ensuring financial accuracy and transparency in all reporting. ________________________________________ Skills and Qualifications: • Education & Experience: o Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). o A minimum of 3 years of experience in cost control or project finance, ideally within large-scale infrastructure or energy projects. o Experience working with Joint Venture structures is highly desirable. o Familiarity with accounting systems, specifically Harmony, would be an advantage. • Technical Skills: o Strong knowledge of project cost management techniques, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost variance analysis. o Proficiency in financial management software, with a focus on cost control and payment reconciliation processes. o Familiarity with project management tools such as Primavera P6 is advantageous. • Personal Attributes: o Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. o Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. o Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure. o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to collaborate across multiple teams and stakeholders. ________________________________________ Why Work With Us? • World-Class Project: Work on the Hinkley Point C nuclear project, a key component of the UK's energy future. • Collaborative Environment: Join a high-performing team in a Joint Venture with global industry leaders. • Career Progression: Opportunities for personal and professional growth within the nuclear and energy sectors. • Competitive Benefits: Competitive salary, comprehensive health benefits, pension scheme, and additional perks.
