Overview
Join the Frimley Park Hospital Clinical Pharmacy team as an enthusiastic and committed pharmacist. This role is part of a structured rotational training programme covering general surgery, orthopaedics, elderly care, acute medicine, endocrinology, respiratory medicine, and dispensary services. The programme includes exposure to the regional Medicines Information specialist unit and opportunities to train in paediatrics, antimicrobial stewardship, parenteral nutrition, and haematology.
Training & Development
* Three‑year fully funded academic diploma, including Independent Prescribing Pharmacist qualification.
* Automatic progression from band 6 to band 7 once milestones are achieved.
* Support from divisional and service lead pharmacists throughout all rotations.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide safe, effective, patient‑centred pharmaceutical care in accordance with NHS policies, professional standards and GPhC requirements.
* Clinically screen, verify and authorise up to 1,000 prescription charts per day, ensuring accuracy, legality and appropriateness.
* Identify, resolve and prevent medicines‑related problems, including interactions, contraindications and dosing issues.
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to optimise medicines use and improve patient outcomes.
* Support education, training and supervision of pharmacy staff, trainees and other healthcare professionals.
* Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives and audit activity within the pharmacy department.
* Participate in evening, weekend, bank holiday and on‑call duties in line with the departmental rota.
* Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to reporting and governance processes.
* Engage in continuing professional development (CPD) to maintain and enhance professional competence.
Qualifications & Skills
* Registered pharmacist (GPhC registration required).
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well within multidisciplinary teams.
* Organised, motivated and adaptable, with strong initiative and the ability to handle new situations quickly.
* Commitment to patient‑centred care and a collaborative approach to medicines management.
