Overview
We are a busy GP surgery seeking a highly motivated, professional Receptionist with excellent customer service and communication skills to join our friendly team. The role can be full-time or part-time; if part-time, afternoon cover until 6 p.m.
Responsibilities
* Receive, assist and direct patients to appropriate services or healthcare professionals in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
* Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and visitors, in person or via telephone.
* Provide an effective and efficient reception service to patients and visitors.
* Deal with general enquiries, explain procedures and book new and follow-up appointments.
* Assess urgent cases and ensure patients with no prior appointment are seen in a logical, non-disruptive manner.
* Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
* Handle telephone calls, divert calls, take messages and ensure accurate delivery.
* Record home visit requests and refer to the duty doctor where necessary.
* Process repeat prescription requests and ensure readiness for collection within 48 hours.
* Prepare lists and notes for surgeries and clinics and manage related paperwork.
* Advise patients of charges for private services, take payments and issue receipts where applicable.
* Enter patient information into the computer system and maintain accurate records.
* Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure the waiting area is tidy and welcoming.
* Undertake any other duties as requested by the Partners or the practice manager.

* Identify risks, use training to update knowledge, and maintain clean and safe work areas.

The Post-holder Will

Job Details
Pay: £12.21 per hour
Contract: Permanent
Working pattern: Full-time or Part-time (part-time pattern may be 25-37 hours per week on a two-week rota, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.)
