We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Graduate Planner / Planner to join our team in our Solihull Office. As our Trainee Graduate Planner / Planner, you will deal with, and (under the guidance of our Planning Manager) be responsible for supporting planning related matters within the business, including: devising planning strategies, managing consultant teams, drafting statements required for the submission of planning applications and delivering immediate or long term planning projects on a variety of scales.
As part of this process, you will have a close working relationship with other internal departments such as design, land, technical, commercial, construction and sales teams, alongside liaising with a variety of planning authorities and statutory consultees to progress applications and discharge conditions.
As Trainee Graduate Planner / Planner for Spitfire Homes, you will report into Frances Keenan – Planning Manager and will be responsible for the following;
Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation of planning appraisals and reports to support the Land Team in the bidding process.
* Oversee the work of all external consultants to prepare, submit and manage planning applications.
* Undertake community engagements with local residents and stakeholders.
* Liaise directly with, and respond to the comments of, planning authorities and statutory consultees to ensure the successful outcome of the planning application process.
* Submit and prepare non-material amendment and minor material amendment applications to amend planning permissions.
* Manage and maintain planning condition trackers. Gathering all necessary information, submitting and pushing for discharge in a timely manner.
* Raising purchase orders and managing the planning budget for each project.
* Understanding the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and how this is calculated.
* Understand S106 agreements and keep trackers to ensure obligations are complied with.
* Awareness of housebuilder requirements including standard house types and design principles.
* Attend external meetings and site visits.
Qualifications
* Achieved or working towards a Chartered RTPI Accreditation.
* Time management and organisational skills and the ability to work on their own initiative.
* Self‑motivated and self‑disciplined with a desire to invest time in personal development.
* Possession of driving license.
* Previous experience with a house builder, private consultancy or local authority.
* Experience in planning policy/development management.
