About the role of Grounds person: We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team in maintaining the racecourse to the highest standards all year round. This varied and hands-on role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions to prepare and maintain the racing surface, parade rings, lawns, car parks, and external areas. Youll also support racedays and events, working with machinery and equipment as required. This is a rewarding but physically demanding position, requiring flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays. While youll be part of a team, the ability to work independently and take initiative is essential. Some of the key responsibilities of the Grounds Person would include- Under the direction of the Head Grounds Person, carry out a maintenance programme for the course. The work entails working outside in changing and often inclement weather conditions and can be physically demanding. To assist in preparing the course for racing to include preparation and reinstatement of the course before, after and during racing, this to include: - Use of tractors, machinery and all-weather maintenance equipment as required. You will be required to use various gardening, agricultural equipment, machinery, vehicles, and chemicals in the process of carrying out your duties. Abide by all regulations and safe working practices in accordance with current legislation and as detailed in the Companys Health and Safety Policy and Procedure Please see the Job Description for a more detailed description The person we are looking for as a Groundsperson has. Tractor Driving would be an advantage. PA1, PA6 would be an advantage. Equine experience would be an advantage. Strong time management and organisation Reliable with an excellent attendance record Flexible and able to work under pressure. Excellent communication skills and a team player Enjoys outdoor work.
