The Role:
They’re currently seeking a Construction Category Specialist to join their procurement team. This role is pivotal in managing construction-related spend, including new builds, refurbishments, and maintenance works, ensuring best value and compliance with procurement regulations. You’ll be working closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to support the delivery of their ambitious development and maintenance programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and execute procurement strategies for construction categories, driving cost savings and value.
* Manage tender processes, contract negotiations, and supplier performance for construction projects.
* Conduct market analysis and supplier benchmarking to identify innovative opportunities and manage risks.
* Collaborate with project and contract teams to align procurement with business needs and compliance.
* Monitor contract delivery and supplier relationships, promoting continuous improvement.
* Ensure procurement activities meet all relevant legal and organisational standards.
* Integrate social value and sustainability into category strategies.
Candidate Profile:
* Strong background in construction procurement or category management, ideally within housing, construction, or property sectors.
* In-depth knowledge of construction contracts, procurement regulations, and frameworks.
* Proven negotiation and supplier management skills.
* Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing multiple stakeholders.
* Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to inform decisions.
* Professional procurement qualification (e.g., CIPS) or construction management experience is preferred.
