Role Overview

The school is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Performing Arts Technician to support the delivery of performing arts activities across the school.

This role will involve working closely with teachers and students to ensure that technical aspects of performances, productions and lessons run smoothly.

The Performing Arts Technician will play an essential role in maintaining equipment, supporting rehearsals and assisting with the technical preparation of performances and events.

The successful candidate will help ensure that the performing arts department continues to deliver high-quality creative experiences for students.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong interest in theatre production, sound and lighting technology, and stage management.


Key Responsibilities

• Preparing theatre and performance spaces for lessons, rehearsals and productions
• Setting up and operating lighting and sound equipment for performances
• Supporting drama, music and dance lessons with technical requirements
• Maintaining lighting rigs, microphones, speakers and audio equipment
• Assisting staff and students during rehearsals and technical run-throughs
• Supporting the planning and technical delivery of school productions and concerts
• Managing props, staging equipment and costume storage
• Ensuring that all technical equipment is safely stored and maintained
• Assisting with stage management during performances and events
• Supporting students in developing technical theatre skills
• Managing equipment inventories and reporting maintenance needs
• Ensuring all activities comply with health and safety procedures
• Assisting with the recording and filming of performances where required
• Supporting external performers or visiting companies when events take place at the school


The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be passionate about performing arts and technical theatre.

They will have experience working with stage lighting, sound equipment and theatre production processes. The successful applicant will enjoy working in a dynamic environment where creativity and collaboration are encouraged.

They will demonstrate excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple technical tasks during busy rehearsal and performance periods.

Requirements

• Experience working with theatre or performing arts technical equipment
• Knowledge of stage lighting, sound systems and theatre production processes
• Ability to set up and operate audiovisual equipment
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to support students in developing technical theatre skills
• Understanding of health and safety procedures within performance environments
• Experience working in a school, theatre or performing arts setting is desirable
