Senior Engineering Manager – Nuclear Safety Regulation

What you’ll be doing:
1. Advising leaders at all levels on nuclear legislation, site license applications, and regulatory requirements
2. Managing relationships with regulatory bodies and deploying interface management arrangements
3. Overseeing the development and delivery of nuclear safety governance, assurance frameworks, and independent oversight capabilities
4. Overseeing the development and maintenance of the nuclear baseline together with organizational change processes
5. Leading the design and delivery of nuclear competence assessments and training solutions
6. Implementing compliance operating models for nuclear/radiological safety and development of compliant nuclear management arrangements
7. Preparing and maintaining nuclear safety documentation, including safety cases and associated processes
8. Supporting end-users with safety case requirements
9. Providing authoritative radiological protection advice
10. Promoting a strong nuclear safety culture through stewardship and leadership concepts
Your skills and experiences:
We are looking for people with a selection of skills and experience in one or more of the following:
1. Nuclear safety legislation, licensing, and regulatory frameworks
2. Goal-setting regulation and application of relevant good practice (RGP)
3. Safety policy, governance, and independent challenge mechanisms
4. Regulatory interface management and permissioning arrangements
5. Integrated management systems and compliance assurance
6. Event reporting and operational experience feedback (OEFL) systems
7. Development of nuclear capabilities, baselines, and organizational change management
8. Competency-based training frameworks using Systematic Approach to Training (SAT)
9. Safety case development methodologies and safety case implementation
10. Radiological protection, waste management

The Nuclear Safety Regulation team:
The Nuclear Safety and Regulation Department oversees the site’s nuclear regulations. The team provides specialist advice and services related to nuclear/radiological safety standards and compliance, and the development of safety cases. It is essential for maintaining the license to operate.
This role provides leadership, oversight, and management of a team of nuclear safety specialists to deliver work packages supporting major strategic and international programmes. Relocation support packages are available for eligible Submarines roles.
