Clackmannanshire and Stirling Health and Social Care Partnership is committed to delivering high-quality, safe, and effective inpatient mental health and learning disability services. As part of the development of our Partnership and following a redesign of the operational management structure, we are seeking to appoint a Service Manager to lead our Inpatient Mental Health and Learning Disability (MHLD) Services.
The Service Manager will be responsible for the day‑to‑day operational leadership of the inpatient portfolio and a small specialist community team, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred care supported by robust financial, clinical, and workforce governance arrangements. This role requires a proven leader with significant experience in complex inpatient service environments, who can demonstrate the professional, emotional, and managerial capability to lead, inspire, and challenge multidisciplinary teams in a high-risk, 24/7 setting.
The successful applicant will hold operational responsibility for nine inpatient wards across three hospital sites (two mental health and one learning disability), providing senior leadership oversight across acute, specialist, and high-acuity services. The role requires close working with clinical leaders to ensure effective patient flow, timely decision‑making, and consistent operational oversight, including responsibility for the Clinical Nurse Manager on‑call rota.
The post holder will work closely with the Head of MHLD Services, providing assurance on the safe and effective delivery of services, and will collaborate with the Chief Nurse for MHLD to ensure robust professional and clinical governance across nursing services, the largest workforce group within the inpatient portfolio.
The Service Manager plays a key role in the ongoing review and improvement of services, ensuring clear, cohesive pathways into, through, and out of hospital care. The post holder will also represent NHS Forth Valley’s services at local, regional, and national forums, contributing to service development, quality improvement, and system-wide assurance.
Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.
As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part-time hours will be reduced pro‑rated. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
