Clinical Intelligence and Assurance Co-ordinator

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Intelligence and Assurance Co-ordinator to join the Clinical Directorate. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the effective use of clinical data, information, and knowledge to improve healthcare delivery across the Trust. By contributing to the delivery of high quality clinical audit and the development of insight that supports service improvement, patient safety, and better outcomes.

You will provide support across the clinical audit cycle, including helping to identify best practice, supporting the development of audit methodologies, assisting with data collection and analysis, and contributing to the interpretation of findings and implementation of improvement actions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong auditing background, along with experience of working with healthcare or clinical data. You will be committed to using evidence to improve patient care and outcomes.

The base will be in Swansea.


Main duties of the job

The Clinical Intelligence and Assurance Co-ordinator will make a significant contribution to the delivery of the Trust’s Clinical and Digital Strategies, through:

The proactive co-ordination, facilitation and delivery of high quality, innovative and effective clinical audit.

Working closely with others in the Clinical Intelligence and Assurance Team, Research and Innovation Department, Clinical Improvement Team, Health Informatics and with the WAST Innovation and Improvement Network (WIIN) to facilitate the Trust-wide development of an improvement-focused culture characterised by evidence and promoting clinical audit as a quality improvement tool.

Contributing to the design, delivery and review of Clinical Indicators and Ambulance Service Indicators through the audit and interpretation of electronic Patient Clinical Records (ePCRs).

Being an integral part of the wider NHS quality assurance monitoring process in evidencing and achieving the Health and Care Quality Standards (2023).

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.


Qualifications and Knowledge

* Educated to degree level or equivalent knowledge and experience
* A qualification in clinical audit or equivalent experience
* Detailed knowledge of clinical audit processes including gathering, analysing, interpreting, and presenting data
* A detailed understanding of clinical audit within a healthcare environment
* Working knowledge of SQL
* Comprehensive knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulation, Freedom of Information Act, Caldicott Principles and Clinical Governance.


Skills and Attributes

* Research, evaluation, and audit skills
* Able to understand and present complicated information in a simple way and to address situations of opposition and resistance
* Highly numerate with the ability to collect, analyse, interpret, and present multifaceted clinical data and information
* Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading and writing in Welsh


Experience

* Delivering and facilitating clinical audit from within a healthcare setting
* Leading and undertaking clinical audit projects including analysing and presenting complex data and using both qualitative and quantitative methods of data analysis


Other

* Displays a passion for excellence and the role clinical audit can play in improving patient care
* Able to travel to different sites
