A creative agency is seeking an experienced Lead Animator to help bring meaningful stories to life through compelling 2D (and occasional 3D) animation. Specialising in projects that support academic, governmental, and public sector clients, this role is ideal for someone passionate about storytelling for social impact.
What You'll Do
* Lead and manage animation projects, collaborating with a small internal team, freelancers, and clients.
* Supervise and develop two in-house animators, fostering creativity and ensuring top-tier output.
* Create detailed storyboards and visual assets—either through your own illustration or in partnership with dedicated illustrators.
* Deliver polished 2D animations (and occasional 3D content), usually 2–5 minutes in length, tailored to a wide range of audiences and styles.
* Develop streamlined animation workflows and maintain high standards in quality and efficiency.
* Communicate clearly in client meetings and presentations, articulating ideas and visuals confidently.
* Contribute to occasional illustration work across both digital and print formats.
Who We’re Looking For
* A minimum of 5 years’ experience in professional animation with a strong portfolio of 2D/3D work, particularly explainer-style content.
* Demonstrated experience managing or mentoring creatives.
* Expertise in Adobe After Effects and other industry-standard animation tools.
* Proficient in storytelling, motion design, character animation, and visual clarity.
* Self-starter with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines with confidence and creativity.
* Strong organisational skills with a sharp eye for detail.
* Comfortable using Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
* Degree in Animation, Illustration, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
