About the role
The candidate will be easyGroup’s in house brand protection lawyer, working with external lawyers for brand protection matters in different jurisdictions. The ideal candidate should be both a self-motivated individual and a positive team player.
A: The job description
i. Reporting into Stelios as chairman of easyGroup Ltd, the creator and owner of the easy family of brands see www.easy.com and www.easyHistory.info
iii. Manage a legal IP brand protection budget of £2-£4m pa
iv. Liaise closely with external lawyers and trademark attorneys
v. Attend trials including at IPEC and High Court
vi. Give witness statements in the UK court proceedings and other jurisdictions
vii. Use the Sage purchase order system to issue purchase orders to law firms
viii. Use Excel to manage the purchase orders/invoices/recharges to easy licensees/payments and receipts
ix. Use Coutts online banking to make payments and record receipts
x. Use Salesforce to record cases of brand thieves
xi. Use Salesforce to manage the list of IP assets including domains and trademarks
xii. Use Salesforce to manage the issuing of new brand licences and manage the current ones
xiii. Manage and help to arrange corporate events for the easy family of brands
xiii. Other ad hoc corporate duties
B. Requirements
i. Should be a newly or recently qualified UK solicitor with experience of Intellectual property law
ii. Must be prepared to work 5 days per week from the London office and travel internationally 22% of their working time
iii. Must have the right to live and work in the UK without visa sponsorship
C. Employment contract terms:
i. easyGroup’s policy is to pay its employees according to the hours actually worked per time sheets at the agreed hourly rate when working in the London office and a premium rate when travelling for work. Minimum working hours per week is 40 when in London and 48 hours per week when travelling.
ii. Travel plans: approximately 2.5 months per annum away from the UK in several trips of varying lengths.
iii. A bonus equivalent to one month’s salary conditional on corporate and personal performance
