Thomas Telford School Full-time Payroll Officer £30,000-£36,000 depending on experience 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, Monday - Friday We are seeking to appoint a Payroll Officer to administer end-to-end payroll, ensuring strict deadlines are met, in accordance with best practice, current legislation and company operating procedures. We are seeking someone who is highly motivated, conscientious, hard-working and who takes pride administering accurate and timely payroll as well as maintaining the highest professional standards. Benefits: Salary of £30,000-£36,000, depending on experience Discretionary bonus scheme Company pension scheme Free gym access Cycle-to-work scheme 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays Key responsibilities: Process end-to-end payroll for multiple schools, including data input, managing standing data, processing starters and leavers, maternity, changes to tax codes, pay rates and pension contribution rates. Manage and resolve queries from colleagues and employees on payroll-related matters in a professional and timely manner. Administer multiple pension schemes, including Teachers’ Pension, Local Government Pension Scheme and NEST pension schemes, ensuring compliance with regulations and reporting requirements. Provide advice on entitlement to SMP, SPP, ShPP, SSP and other items. Generate payroll reports, including year-end reports, reconciliations and analysis to ensure payroll accuracy and share this information with the Finance Director. Stay up to date on payroll legislation and best practice and ensure compliance with statutory requirements. Work with colleagues to improve payroll process and improve efficiency. Maintain appropriate records for audit purposes. Contribute to the annual payroll budgeting process. Qualifications and skills: Previous experience in a payroll-related role is essential. Strong understanding of payroll legislation, taxation and compliance. Highly motivated and committed to best practice and process improvement. Excellent attention to detail and technical understanding. Relevant professional qualifications, such as CIPP, ire an advantage. Experience of administering the Teachers’ Pension Scheme and Local Government Pension Scheme is highly desirable. Experience of Sage 50 is desirable but not essential. Strong Excel, numerical and written skills. High level of integrity and confidentiality to protect sensitive information. Effective communication skills.
