The Amazon EUSC Process Engineering (PE) Team is looking for a proven technical leader with extensive experience leading continuous improvement projects in applying planning and engineering principles to operations. This role involves developing and implementing process improvement initiatives within the logistics and distribution industry. As a PE, you will collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders including operations, network planning, labor planning, and service performance to design and improve our Sort Centers' material flow processes, challenging existing operations.
Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Floor layout design and implementation.
2. Applying engineering principles, developing processes, and enhancing operations.
3. Studying operations to optimize and design new tools involving simulation, modeling, and planning.
4. Building productive relationships across the organization to further business objectives.
5. Managing complex, quick-turn projects with sound business judgment.
6. Defining business models to monitor improvements over time.
7. Assessing process improvement opportunities and partnering with process owners and stakeholders to scope, define problems, and structure projects.
8. Training, coaching, and mentoring field Operations teams to leverage tools and systems effectively.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with data-driven decision-making skills, capable of leading initiatives independently and with a team, and experienced in analyzing data, root cause analysis, and implementing long-term solutions. Strong leadership, communication, and documentation skills for senior management are essential. Willingness to travel up to 30% is required.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Implementing continuous improvement initiatives to optimize material flow.
2. Auditing processes for compliance and addressing gaps.
3. Using data to analyze and improve site operations.
4. Collaborating with stakeholders to solve process-related issues.
This role involves conducting observations and audits, recommending process changes, and implementing new procedures. You will be based at a site, influencing operational efficiency, and may analyze other sites as needed. Sharing ideas within the EU network is encouraged. You will use data to drive improvements and enhance shipping capabilities.
About the team: Amazon’s Transportation Service (ATS) team plays a vital role in ensuring efficient delivery using air, sea, road, and sortation centers. The team leverages data for decision-making, prioritizes safety, and values innovation and efficiency.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* A degree in business, supply chain, transportation, economics, or a technical field
* Relevant experience in supply chain, transportation, project management, or management consulting
* Experience managing multiple projects
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis
* Experience communicating with diverse stakeholders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience in process improvement
* Experience building analytical tools
* Understanding of SQL
* Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or QuickSight
