Advanced Practitioner Ultrasound / Sonographer
University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is one of the largest teaching trusts in the UK, operating two major hospitals and a community diagnostic centre. We are looking for a motivated and professional Advanced Practitioner – Ultrasound / Sonographer to support a 7‑day, 24‑hour service.
Job Summary
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will perform ultrasound examinations, prepare reports and mentor staff, working across Coventry, Rugby, and Coventry City Centre sites, with expansion into a Community Diagnostic Centre in 2026.
Responsibilities
* Perform ultrasound examinations and capture high quality diagnostic images in line with national and departmental protocols.
* Prepare independent clinical reports and discuss findings with patients where appropriate.
* Prioritise patient welfare and safety, adapting techniques to individual needs.
* Support multidisciplinary teams with expert clinical advice and collaboration.
* Supervise and manage an allocated clinical area – manage workflow and resources for efficient service delivery.
* Participate in request validation, vetting and justification processes.
* Verify patient identification and documentation, ensuring examinations comply with imaging protocols.
* Assess image quality, initiate corrective actions, and appropriately raise concerns.
* Contribute to protocol development, evidence‑based practice, and departmental quality assurance.
Requirements
* Immunisation and vaccination report from UK occupational health or GP.
* Availability to work a 7‑day, 24‑hour service, including weekends, bank and public holidays.
