Senior Electrical Engineer for the Environment Agency’s Standards and Engineering team. Requires experience with high, medium, low and extra‑low voltage electrical systems, control systems design and SCADA/telemetry systems.
Responsibilities
 * Influence and shape the delivery of services into the future within the Standards, Asset Management and Engineering Directorate.
 * Provide technical engineering leadership and support to the organization to meet objectives of safe, reliable and sustainable assets and net‑zero carbon commitments.
 * Manage, develop and maintain electrical engineering standards, including electrical safety rules, for HV and LV power systems and control systems at assets such as pumping stations, water management and flood defence structures and monitoring sites.
 * Develop, deliver and maintain competency and skills guidance for all employees managing or carrying out work on electrical systems and equipment.
 * Hold a national incident response role, which may be within normal working hours or out of hours.
Experience & Skills Required
 * Good working knowledge of the Electricity at Work regulations and BS 7671 IET wiring regulations.
 * Good working knowledge of control systems, including application of IEC 61508, IEC 62061 and BS EN 13489, and telemetry/SCADA systems.
 * Knowledge of high and low voltage generation and distribution systems.
 * Experience in the development and delivery of safe systems of work, risk assessments, method statements.
 * Testing and isolation of high and low voltage electrical systems and proving dead.
 * Strong understanding of a risk‑based approach to electrical maintenance philosophies and implementation, including the application of Failure Mode Effects Analysis, reliability systems and processes.
 * Drafting and publishing of electrical policy, instructions and guidance.
 * Excellent work management, team working and communication skills.
