Principal Pharmacist, Education and Training

We are seeking a friendly, supportive and motivated pharmacist passionate about education and staff development.
This highly rewarding role focuses on front‑line training and offers the chance to make a real impact.
You will lead the design and delivery of training for Trainee Pharmacists, oversee university placements, and work with external partners to ensure excellent learning experiences.
You will also contribute to evolving pharmacy training programmes and support education for the wider healthcare team.
The role involves collaboration with colleagues across Trust and ICBs to deliver innovative and effective training strategies.
You will need good interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to organise and prioritise your work. We will provide appropriate training to aid your personal and professional development.
Main duties of the job
* Plan, implement and monitor the education and training of all pharmacy staff across the Trust such that it reflects the needs of the staff and the service and meets required professional standards.
* Co‑ordinate and chair Local Faculty Group meetings
* Serve as Education Programme Director for pharmacy education at the Trust, working collaboratively with counterparts across the South West London Acute Provider Collaborative to co‑ordinate and deliver regional education and training initiatives.
Cross-site work will be required to meet service needs and may include covering for leave and working weekends/bank holidays.
You will participate in late duty, Bank Holiday and weekend rotas and be part of a seven day service.
Qualifications
* Masters in Pharmacy Degree - MPharm
* Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
* Registered with GPHC
* Independent prescriber
* Member of Royal College of Pharmacy
* Teaching qualification
* Member of the faculty of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (or working towards) at Faculty Advanced Stage II or Advanced level practice against the Core Advanced Curriculum
Experience
* Substantial post registration acute hospital experience
* Previous experience in leading, developing and delivering education and training initiatives
* Experience in sourcing alternative providers of training and funding
* Experience of protocol/guideline/objective developmentStaff appraisal/assessment/performance management
* Knowledge of CMM
* Risk management and assessment
* Experience of leading service and quality improvement projects
Skills
* Ability to prioritise work effectively and work under pressure
* Demonstrates initiative and problem solving skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Ability to influence and negotiate with all grades of staff
* Ability to implement and manage change.
* In-depth understanding of Cost Improvement Programme (CIP)
