Responsibilities
* Provide essential knowledge, advice, and support by promoting continuous improvement with regard to Environmental and Sustainability matters in accordance with environmental legislation, guidelines, and targets for the Hinkley Point C site.
* Promote a positive Environmental and Sustainability culture throughout all of the HPC related projects, legal entities, and the supply chain.
* Contribute to Environmental and Sustainability commitments by highlighting and promoting best practice, ensuring environmental policies and procedures are implemented and utilised across all aspects of the HPC project work scopes.
* Review Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS) produced by the project teams, ensuring all environmental compliance obligations are correctly referred to, including legislation, site standards, and regulatory requirements.
* Monitor and review regular site performance through weekly inspections and audits, assessing the suitability of Risk Assessments and Method Statements, recording findings, and highlighting areas for improvement.
* Ensure works are undertaken in accordance with environmental standards detailed within the activity RAMS during inspections.
* Agree remedial action with site management on any non‑conformance, and carry out follow‑up reviews to ensure implementation.
* Prepare and deliver reports on project environment and sustainability performance targets/KPIs in line with business, client, and regulatory reporting requirements.
* Deliver proactive advice and guidance on site to ensure environmental processes are followed and key behaviours are embedded across project work packages.
* Identify any relevant environmental‑related training requirements, ensure compliance on site, and prepare and deliver training as required.
* Manage incident preparedness, response, reporting, investigation, and follow‑up to establish root causes and identify appropriate actions.
* Ensure emergency preparedness procedures are implemented effectively and maintain the exercise plan.
* Support communication by producing toolbox talks, briefings, and guidance notes.
* Perform any other reasonable activities directed by the line manager.
* Work full time 5 days a week on site.
Qualifications
* Experience of working as an Environmental Advisor or above on large, high‑potential‑risk engineering and construction projects.
* Detailed understanding of UK Environmental Legislation.
* Relevant degree or diploma in Environmental Management, Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
* CCNSG Safety Passport.
* HS&E MAPS.
Desirable
* Track record of delivering Auditing / Inspection / Remedial action on non‑conformance.
* Knowledge of CDM Regulations and experience of EPC project delivery.
* ISO14001 auditor desirable.
* ISEP (formerly IEMA) / IES Certification or similar.
