Supporting our client within the Higher Education Sector we are keen to recruit a Recreation Supervisor to oversee the daily operations and services within a Sports Service facility.
The successful candidate will have accountability for the supervision of a team of Leisure and Recreations Assistants in addition to assisting in the delivery of activities across the site to include coaching, programme development, class instruction, Health & safety and marketing.

Requirements
6. BTEC HND qualification or equivalent in an area including or related to Physical Education/Recreation Management/Sports Coaching, Fitness Instructor's Award or equivalent essential
7. Previous experience within a sports centre role supervising human and physical resources, including marketing of facilities. Promoting and delivering classes and exercise programmes including the preparation of individual programmes in fitness and strength and conditioning, in order to assist in the development of clubs and individual performances.
8. First Aid qualification highly desirable
9. Coaching qualifications in 2 or more sporting disciplines / classes essential
10. To have obtained or be in the final stages of a sports related, health & fitness or relevant degree desirable
11. Supervisory qualification or relevant experience
12. Knowledge of both physiological and skills development
13. Strong organisational skills.
14. Strong Leadership skills with experience of providing leadership to recreation and support staff.
15. Ability to initiate new ideas, in step with the local requirements and current trends in sport and recreation.
16. Previous experience of risk assessment/health and safety regulations
17. Enthusiastic with the ability to develop teamwork and team engagement
Responsibilities
18. Reporting to the Operation Manager through the Operations Coordinator, the Operations Supervisor will be part of the team who will be responsible for the day to day supervision of Leisure Assistants/Recreation Support Assistants and the provision of a service for users of Sports Centre facilities
19. Assist in the delivery of activities and coaching opportunities for students, staff and external users of the sports facilities. This includes increasing participation levels and developing performance through the provision of a series of structured programmes.
20. Responsibility for the supervision of all sports facilities and the allocation of work to Leisure and Recreation Support Assistants to ensure facilities are adequately staffed, including shift allocation for both the sports centre and pavilion if applicable.
21. In consultation with the Operations Manager and as a leading member of the sports team, coordinate the planning and delivery of Sport Services/Sports Development Programmes through classes, challenges and coaching programmes for students, staff and external users of the university's facilities.
22. Take responsibility for the coordination of all induction classes/videos in both the fitness suite and the strength and conditioning room, and recruit, train and supervise any additional staff required to work in this area.
23. Initiate and organise new business and increase participation
24. Assist with the promotion and marketing of Sports Services, programmes
25. Work with the sports development staff to promote and develop activities for students, staff and the wider community to enhance business and participation at all levels.
26. Give initial training, inductions and assistance to new staff and monitor their progress on an ongoing basis.
27. Reception/Cashier duties involving cash transactions using a computer booking system also including the booking of facilities and checking membership/student cards.
28. Distribution, erection, dismantling and retrieval of equipment. Checking equipment and areas for defects, reporting such defects to the Departmental office and carrying out minor repairs to equipment as necessary.
29. Ordering, receiving and storing stock including stock taking duties and associated documentation and records.
30. Supervise and check the cleaning of recreational and other areas including changing rooms, toilets, corridors and stairwells and equipment within the Sports Centre on a daily basis. Dealing with lost property.
