Overview
Camphill Community Glencraig is recruiting for a Senior Day Support Worker to work with adults with a learning disability within the Day Services in Camphill Community Glencraig. The role supports the Team Leader in providing high-quality care to adults with complex needs and challenging behaviour. The position may involve personal care and, at times, redirection or physical intervention as a last resort.
Responsibilities
* Assist the Team Leader in delivering high standards of support and care to adults with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
* Provide meaningful day activities within the outdoor Horticulture Environment.
* Support residents and day attendees in a safe, stimulating environment in line with organizational values and ethos.
Essential Criteria
* QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent to Level 3 qualification in Education, Early Years, Play/Sports/Leisure activities, or Youth.
* Basic numeracy and literacy skills (English/Maths at GCSE grade C or above).
* Registered or agreeable to applying for registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council.
* At least 1 year experience in a caring and/or educational support field.
* Effective communication skills.
* Ability to work as part of an outdoor team.
Desirable Criteria
* Qualification in Health & Social Care or Social Sciences.
* Experience in education or health and social care settings.
* Experience of working with individuals with a disability and experience in dealing with challenging behaviour.
* Experience of medical conditions such as Epilepsy.
Benefits
* Salary: 5-Point scale, commencing on £27,393 per annum, increasing with length of service.
* Hours of Work: 40 hours per week.
* Contract: Permanent.
