We are keen to recruit an experienced Ophthalmic Imaging Specialist to join our vibrant Ophthalmology team.
Mondays and Fridays at Barnet Hospital.
Main duties of the job
To provide Ophthalmic Imaging for the purpose of diagnosis and clinical management of patients at Barnet Hospital as part of Royal Free London Ophthalmology services.
Ophthalmic Imaging Procedures
* Fundus Fluorescein Angiography
* External and Fundus Imaging
* OCT - Optical Coherence Tomography
* OCTA - Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography
* And any other new techniques or services deemed appropriately related to this role.
Clinical Responsibilities
1. Responsible for performing specialist ophthalmic imaging procedures and duties as requested by healthcare professionals to enable diagnosis, clinical assessment.
2. Maintain accurate records, be involved in teaching, audit, research and imaging for medico‑legal purposes.
3. Undertake a full range of Ophthalmic imaging procedures:
o Fundus Fluorescein Angiography
o External and Fundus Imaging
o OCT - Optical Coherence Tomography
o OCTA - Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography
o And any other new techniques or services deemed appropriately related to this role.
4. To perform high quality standard investigations and diagnostic tests specified by the consultant/clinician/nurse in clinics.
5. Other tasks include:
o Measuring spectacle prescriptions using automated focimeters
o Measuring visual acuity using digital or free‑standing LogMar charts
o Auto‑refraction
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent experience in an ophthalmic imaging role
* Specialist knowledge of Fluorescein angiography, optical coherence tomography (OCT) including OCT‑angiography, widefield retinal imaging, slit‑lamp and external photography
* Demonstration of Continuous Professional Development
Experience
* Experience in Ophthalmic imaging
* Experience of using various Ophthalmic Imaging devices
* An understanding of team dynamics, including what makes a team work well and what can go wrong
* Experience of working in a Hospital / care environment

* Ability to work without direct supervision
* Able to prioritise own workload to achieve the objectives of the post and ability to make correct decisions within a correct set of guidelines.

Salary
£36,943 to £44,900 a year inclusive of HCAS (pro‑rata).
