Environmental (Non-Contentious) – Senior Associate to Legal Director
Location: Manchester, Leeds, or other regional UK locations (outside London)
A high profile global law firm is seeking an experienced environmental candidate to join their market-leading Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced environmental lawyer to take on high profile work within a dynamic top tier team.
We are delighted to be working with a well known national team known for advising global clients on complex environmental matters. The team’s work spans regulatory compliance, transactional support, ESG advisory, and cross-border project work. You’ll be involved in matters such as environmental permitting, chemical regulation, waste classification, and broader sustainability issues. Whilst the focus of the role is predominantly non contentious environmental work, the team has considerable expertise in contentious environmental work, so there is ample opportunity for a breadth of work if there is a candidate with a preference for both.
The successful candidate will have at least five years of post-qualification experience in environmental law and will be confident advising on UK regulatory frameworks. A strong understanding of issues such as REACH, environmental permitting regulations, and waste law would be highly advantageous. You will work with colleagues both locally and internationally on multi-jurisdictional transactions and projects – offering exceptional quality work and the ability to develop strong relationships with global clients.
You will be expected to manage your own caseload with support where needed, but the level of role is flexible for the right candidate. This can be a senior associate/principal associate level position, or legal director for a candidate with the right level of expertise. There are also huge opportunities for future progression, as the team is continuing to grow.
The position offers the opportunity to work in a team that combines technical excellence with a down-to-earth, supportive culture.
Although the preferred location for this role is Manchester, candidates based in Leeds or other regional offices will be considered and there are hybrid and flexible working options for the right candidate.
If you're looking to join a growing and dynamic team at the forefront of environment law, this is an exceptional opportunity to be an integral part of a market leading team.
