About the role:

As a result of continued growth, HealthHero is seeking to recruit a Primary Care Centre Assistant (PCCA) to undertake driving, receptionist and base duties to support the delivery of Integrated Urgent Care services across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin on a part‑time, permanent basis.

Our shift patterns vary and include weekday evenings, weekends, and overnight sessions (23:00‑08:00). Shift patterns and rota flexibility can be discussed at the application stage.

As a Primary Care Centre Assistant (PCCA), you will undertake a dual role of driving and reception work to support the efficient operation of Integrated Urgent Care services across the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin locality.

The service operates 24/7, 365 days a year on a rolling four‑week rota pattern. The role involves non‑clinical support to clinicians and patients who use NHS 111 and GP Out of Hours services. A degree of flexibility will be required, and there may be occasional opportunities to work outside of your contracted hours to facilitate smooth operation.

Shift patterns

* Monday‑Friday 18:15/18:30 – 23:00 (Evenings)
* Monday‑Friday 23:00 – 08:00 (Overnights)
* Saturday‑Monday 08:00 – 08:00 (Encompassing AM/PM/Evening or Overnight Shifts)

Overnight working will be required as part of this role and will make up part of the required working rota.

Key duties

* Driving
o Drive clinicians to patients’ homes safely and legally, adhering to current driving regulations.
o Perform basic vehicle checks at the beginning and end of shifts – ensuring the vehicle is roadworthy, fueled, and fully equipped.

* Base
o Be the first point of contact for patients or carers/relatives at the designated treatment centres.
o Support clinicians while on shift.
o Communicate with patients both in person and via telephone (comfort & welfare checks).
o Ensure the treatment centre is kept clean and tidy.
* Medication and Stock Management
o Use computer systems to accurately maintain stock levels of medications and consumables.
o Replenish car stock at the end of each shift.
o Understand stock rotation and expiry dates on weekly deliveries.

Full training will be provided. The role is varied – you may sit at a reception desk, sit in a car for long periods, carry weighted emergency equipment, and be prepared to undertake CPR on the floor if necessary. Candidates will be required by the selected person to undertake a driver’s medical if successful at interview.

About you

* Confidently interact with patients, relatives, and carers.
* Demonstrate compassion and respect.
* Possess excellent attention to detail.
* Have strong administration skills.
* Be personable, engaging and reassuring.
* Work confidently under pressure and act professionally in emergency or stressful situations.

* Discretionary staff bonus scheme.
* Generous holiday entitlement of up to 33 days per annum inclusive of bank holidays.
* Company pension scheme.
* Simply Health cash plan membership.
* Life assurance.
