A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the growing Mental Health and Learning Disability (MHLD) Practice Education and Development Team for a Band 6 Practice Educator (PE). For a year duration in the first instance.
The PE role will provide support to students, learners and staff within the division. The post requires the development and maintenance of a learning environment where both education and lifelong learning are seen as integral to practice. The role aims to enhance the quality of the practice learning experience and positively contribute to the future nursing/midwifery workforce in line with local and national directives.
The successful post-holder will be a UK Registered Nurse with significant experience working in mental health at Band 5, including supervising undergraduate nurses. Evidence of leadership skills and supporting others in practice is essential as are great communication skills. You should have excellent care values and a strong sense of team spirit coupled with a sense of humour. Enthusiasm to work, learn and develop self and colleagues within the exciting and challenging high pressure environment of mental health and learning disability nursing. You will be dynamic and forward thinking in your approach and focused on providing safe, efficient and person centred care
A proven interest in training, education and professional development for all staff is essential, as well as the ability to have courageous conversions and demonstrate influencing skills.
The successful candidate should be educated to degree level or equivalent. Whilst a teaching qualification would be desirable it is not required initially and further development would be supported within the role as is the opportunity to present at National Conferences, raising the profile of NHS Grampian as a learning environment.
Travel across Grampian will be necessary therefore, the successful candidate/s should have a valid UK driving licence and be a car owner/ access to car.
